This is a story that I wrote in school for an assessment. My mom thought that it was so good, I should post it here as well. So here goes:
“ALLY!” my mother hollered from downstairs. “You left your suit on the couch! You’re becoming as lazy as Jewel!”
When I heard her yell, I rolled off my bed.
“I’m coming.” I mumbled. I was just so tired from my trip, and I could barely even move a muscle. I walked downstairs holding the railing for precaution. When I got there, my suit was packed up and on the side. My mom had made brownies for me. I was super excited. I hugged her, and stuffed a couple in my mouth.
“I’m sure you’re tired from all that exercise you had to do before and after your trip.” my mom said, sitting down at the mini bar.
“I sure am.” I said, stuffing more brownies into my mouth.
“Do you remember how it started?” my mom asked me.
I couldn’t speak at the moment because I had brownie in my mouth. So I gave her the thumbs-up.
It all started when…
The mail came. It came, I got it, gave it to mom. The usual thing I do with mail. Then mom told me there was an envelope addressed to me. I tore it open, and read the letter. I read it outloud.
“Dear Ally, You have been chosen to go on a special kids only (Besides two adults) trip to… MARS! If you accept, please call this number: (408)-375-9486. We hope you accept!

I was totally surprised when I found out that I got to got to MARS! I screamed and I yelled with joy, until I started to loose my voice. We called the number right away. We told them that I would love to go on the trip. They told me to meet them at NASA headquarters tomorrow.
The next day, we drove to NASA headquarters. We got special passes and they also told me I would have to do a lot of exercise everyday before and after my trip. I was ready to do anything. I trained, and trained, and trained! I trained for 6 months, and after that was I ready to go on my mission.
I met the other kids I would be going with on the mission. I was going with kids older and younger than me. We became good friends on our trip.
We took a few weeks later.
“10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0, BLAST OFF!”
We took off soaring. We talked a lot and it felt nice to know you aren’t alone on this scary mission. When we landed on Mars, we got our space suits on and jumped off the spacecraft. We saw the two moons and took closer pictures of them for NASA. As fun as it may be, we were still on a mission. Even though I was wearing a suit, I still felt really cold. It almost felt as if we were in the North Pole. One of the adults explained to us that on Mars, the temperature can be -190 Degrees F to +60 Degrees F. No wonder. We as kids got to explore a lot and got to learn a lot too.
We set up a camp where the Mars atmosphere could not get to us. Human beings can’t breathe in the atmosphere on Mars. We ate and played. It felt like a reunion with my cousins. This is exactly what we do. We all fell asleep talking to each other.
When we woke up, one of our mission mates was gone! We were extremely worried. We looked and looked but we couldn’t find him anywhere. Everybody went into a panic. We all got scary thoughts about what might have happened. We put on our suits, and went outside to search for him. We split up and went to find him. Each of us got a map of where the camp is. Each of us also got a compass to find our way back. We all searched for hours and hours. We contacted NASA, and told them to tell us if they find any sign of a living organism through the satellites.
Soon enough, NASA found the location of where he was. It was little far, so we went together. When we got there, he was in his suit, but he was passed out. The adults carried him, while I led the way back to camp. We treated him and he finally woke up. He told us that he went exploring, but something hit him, and that’s why he ended up unconscious.
We all got mad at him for going exploring at night. He apologized a million times to all of us. But I was still super happy that he was safe. We all got ready and went to explore, but this time, we went together.
We flew back shortly. And the mission was an epic success! I was happy to be back on Earth. And, with my mom. I still had to do more exercises when I got back for some reason. But it was okay. I loved the experience, and my mission mates and I stayed in touch with each other.
It was the week of my life!
