WALK-A-THON 2016!

Every year, my school has a big fundraiser called the Walk-a-Thon. In the Walk-a-Thon, students run or walk around our backfield to raise money for our school. Fifth graders can raise money for their trip, (science camp). Every time you run a lap you get a tally mark on your T-shirt. Once you get five tallies, you get a mini foot on your necklace. There are many other prizes you can also earn along  the way.

On Saturday, October 15, 2016, my school had our 2016 Walk-a-Thon!! I had so much fun with all my friends. I planed a goal for walking 50 laps, but I only got to 40 laps. I’m still super proud and happy. I waked about half of my laps with two friends, and the other half of my laps with two other friends. There is a point during the lap where they have put a water station. A couple of times when we were at the water station, some boys came to us secretly with cups of water. And do you know what they did? They drenched us in water! Then we got them back. The next time they came to us, we drenched them! It was AWESOME! Then we saw one of our classmates and we snuck up on him and got him all wet. He told us that he’d be waiting there for when we come back on our next lap to get us wet. And he did. He was there with two cups of water, but we outran him. My friends and I even had some friendly fights among three of us. It was really funny.

After doing 30 laps, I went to the hair station where they could spray your hair or they could put a feather in your hair. I got a blue and purple feather. It stands out in my dark hair. I ate my sandwich that I packed for myself. I kept on walking until I couldn’t walk anymore. I dared a friend to beat last year’s record, which was 84 laps. If he did, I promised him I would give him a dollar. He beat my dare and I am going to give him a dollar on Monday.

I didn’t reach my goal but I did have a lot of fun with friends and classmates.
